Miriam Haskell Jewelry

Miriam was born in 1899. She started her shop in the Mc Alpine Hotel in 1924 on the very posh Herald Square in NYC. The shop sold her unique jewelry to match and complement high fashion clothing. This was a concept promoted in the 1920s by Coco Chanel. She became very successful and started the Miriam Haskell Co. She and her chief designer Frank Hess created some of the most original costume jewelry ever made utilizing Czech and Austrian stones and beads, Japanese simulated seed pearls and a variety of other materials arranged in a cluster of floral and abstract designs.
