Coco Chanel
Coco was born in 1883 and died in 1971. She and her arch rival Elsa Schiaparelli were the foremost Parisian couturiers in designing and promoting the wearing of faux jewelry as an accessory to clothing and as a means of self expression. Since they were made from non precious materials designers were able to experiment. Therefore, we see a far greater diversity in costume jewelry than in fine jewelry at the time.
Peregrine Galleries has an outstanding and very large collection of Chanel necklaces, bracelets and earrings. However, I'm always interested in purchasing more! So please contact me whether you may be interested in purchasing or selling. See more pictures of jewelry on the Peregrine Galleries Fan page on Facebook.
